I’m so excited to join the Angels & Entrepreneurs community, and I can’t wait to share even more information on the big announcement that Neil clued you in on yesterday.

But first, a little bit more about me:

I was born and raised in New York City, where the entrepreneurial bug bit me early in my childhood. Starting at just six years old, I worked a variety of different jobs growing up… from selling pencils, to working as an apprentice electrician, to handing out flyers, and more.

Through it all, I knew one thing for sure… that I never wanted someone else to be in control of my life and my money. It was that entrepreneurial spirit that prompted me to launch my very first company in my early twenties: hip-hop apparel line FUBU.

FUBU started small. I was selling hats out of my mom’s house in Queens with just a few sewing machines to my name. I even worked shifts at Red Lobster while trying to get the company off the ground… a job that taught me plenty of valuable lessons about the inner workings of the business world.

As FUBU grew, I knew that one day, I wanted the most famous hip-hop artists around the world to wear the brand. Just a few years later, that dream came true.

FUBU quickly became one of the most iconic brands in hip-hop, grossing around $350 million in annual sales at our peak. Rappers like LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, and more have all been spotted wearing our apparel… and we’ve since expanded across the globe into a $6 billion business.

I’ve also had the opportunity to sit on the other side of the table as an angel investor. I’ve invested millions of my own capital into some of the world’s hottest startups, and I’ve met countless passionate founders along the way.
