I’m not the kind of guy who can sit on the beach drinking Mai Tais.

If you sent me to a tropical resort and told me to relax, I’d last a week – if that.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy the beach. In fact, swimming in the waves is one of my favorite things in the world.

But if that’s all there is to do, it gets old fast.

Like weekends, vacations are something you look forward to when you’re unhappy with your everyday life.

I mean, how many people do you know that spend their entire week waiting for Friday?

Because for them, Friday means freedom. They slog their way through the week, looking forward to the moment the clock hits 5pm and they can leave for the weekend.

For most people, this is so normal there’s an entire restaurant chain devoted to the feeling.

“Thank god it’s Friday!”

So you get Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday morning free.

But then Sunday evening rolls around and it’s back to the grind.

The multi-billion-dollar meditation app Calm even has special recordings to help people deal with the stress of Sunday nights (which apparently are called the “Sunday Scaries”).

According to their Head of Lifecycle Marketing: “On Sunday, we see a massive spike going up in usage… people are freaking out Sunday night that it’s the end of the weekend.”

And I get it. I’ve had jobs I hated.

In my 20s, one of my coworkers used to joke about how nice it’d be to get in a car accident during his commute to the office. “That’s one less day I have to go to this job,” he’d say.

It makes sense. When you’re being worked too hard, paid like shit, and don’t get to make an actual impact in the world, there’s not a lot to be excited about.

Drinking Mai Tais on the beach is EXACTLY what you want to be doing when that’s your daily life.

But if you’re going through this right now – or you know someone who is – I want you to know that you don’t have to accept it.

It’s possible to make more money, do work you enjoy, and live life on your own terms.

My parents barely made $20,000 per year combined. But nowadays, I can make that much in a week.

Until next time,
